This dish is not a wok it is a wok shaped dish, so don't expect to stir fry in it. I use it more than any dish as it is perfect for pastas, salads, stews, soups and take out! It is the right size for a small serving dish. It can go in the oven or microwave for reheating or cooking. Even cooked (code for "burned") on food cleans off with a minute soak and nylon scrubber. I have four dishes in four colors, and leave them out on my kitchen buffet for easy grabbing and because they are so cute. We have used them almost every day since my July purchase. I had other similar stoneware dishes but they scratched and the glaze crazed with gentle use. (I threw those unsanitary losers out) so these are worth it if you like durability. The Amazon website shows the colors very accurately.

can someone tell me if the base of the wok is 2 inches..?? this is mentioned under the dimentions..if it isnt what does that number correlate to??

I know there are a few people who are not thrilled about the size of the dish, but I found it to be perfect. It is just the right size to help the eye with portion control.
Also, I've used it as a serving dish, for example, to serve humus at a table sized for four. Several things can be done with this shape and size of dish. Enjoy !

The Le Creuset stoneware wok dish works with the Le Creuset stovetop work to great advantage. The wok dish is usable to 500 degrees in the oven, can be used to serve accompanying noodles or rice, the contents of the stove top wok, anything, really. This dish has the mix/cook/serve and easy cleaning versatility to make the price quite reasonable with Le Creuset quality and durability.

Yes this is a lovely item and my daughter wants it for Christmas, but it is tiny maybe 8 inches across! I will send it back... She had visions of serving her family meal with this.... not going to happen. This is a single portion serving dish.
