wonderful if you like bits of the board in your food Aug 06, 2010 The first time we used the board it cut up black pieces of the board all over our food. We took it back thinking it was defective only to find out our second one did it after it's first use, second use, third use and that's when we stopped using it. It wasn't because it was new or not washed yet, we hand washed it twice and yet it still left bits of the board in all of our vegetables, meat etc. I really dislike this and am mad that they sold a defective product to begin with. Buy another board so you don't have to eat bits of it in each meal.
I noticed some reviewers said that they "over time" or "eventually" you can find a "few" small black fibers or bits of the board. They are every where and it sheds instantly from the first use. With each knife cut a long piece of curly "fiber" attaches itself onto your vegetables or meat, talk about unappetizing. I don't care if it's made of all natural ingredients. dirt is all natural but that doesn't mean I want it sprinkled on my food.
Great for a while, then broke down Jul 17, 2010 I've had this cutting board for around 5 years now, hand washing it half the time, using the dishwasher if I cut meats or anything else on it. It did fine with knives, never seeming to dull them, and it looks very nice, but it's started to break down after going in the dishwasher again. The resin seems to break down after a while and little bits of wood product are coming up off the board, so I'll certainly never use it again. Unfortunately, even if it's done well for 5 years, I'd rather buy something else that I don't have to worry about breaking down and introducing wood products and resins into my food.
board wears out...black surface starts to fall apart and flecks into food Jul 16, 2010 I loved this board at the beginning, but over time, it began to wear down and I also started to find pieces of it in my cut vegetables. I thought it looked like specks of pepper, but then I did a big chopping job and discovered it was actually the board falling apart as I cut into it. I brought this up at the local cooking store and others had seen this as well. I would not recommend using this board.

bonded with Richlite Jul 09, 2010 These boards are bonded with Phenol Formaldehyde. According to the material safety sheet, this is toxic under extreme heat and alkali conditions. Does that sound food safe to you? Aren't some foods alkaline? What about the acid in your stomach? Could that affect cutting board particles that are ingested? (I know, acid, not alkaline - but still...) Just food for thought.
great looking however Jun 28, 2010 I have always loved these boards and finally bought one. Cannot beat looks. Only problem is that after 6 months it is bowing so not flat except for the middle.
