 Sharp silicon edge, great if it had lasted - not durable! Oct 27, 2025
Like many other reviewers, I bought this spatula with high hopes based on the Cook's Illustrated review of the product. The first few uses were great, the edge is so sharp you can scrape a bowl completely clean. I took special care and hand washed it after each use. Within a week (less than 4 uses) I noticed that the edge started cracking. I used it a few more times before pieces starting breaking off. This spatula is not worth the money. I've had other less expensive silicon spatulas, that while the edges are not as sharp, have lasted years, not weeks.

I've had this spatula for almost a year. In terms of use, it's great. It's easy on non-stick surfaces as well as enameled cast iron. I use it for baking tasks, too; the edge is nicely tapered. I have really come to appreciate the metal handle (it feels sturdy) and its length. I reach for it often, and after use, it's hand washed.
Unfortunately, as others have noted, although it's silicone, it's not durable. I started noticing very small chips to the bottom flat edge within the first few months. And last week, an 1/8th inch size piece fell off into the food as I was cooking - at least it was big enough to notice. Clearly, it's self-destructing, and I'm not sure I'll buy another Tovolo.

I registered for a Tovolo spatula for my wedding and got it from my sister in law. She liked it so much she almost didn't give it to me. So this purchase was actually for her. I have both the pink and blue spatulas.
This is by far my favorite spatula I have ever owned. It works well with soft goods like folding egg whites into a mixture and scraping bowls full of batter. I love how sturdy the whole thing is and the extra power you get from the stainless steal handle. This spatula is great for getting those last little bits of peanut butter out of a jar. I would recommend this to anyone in need of a new spatula.

I can not say how well it would have worked, as I received it with a piece of the tip missing and it seemed to be losing another piece next to the lost piece. If a piece could come off before even being used, I would not want to use it for anything that I was going to eat. The factory in China where this was made needs to be told to step up their quality control. I can just imagine using it to cook a red sauce and a piece of the slim tip coming off into the sauce to be digested unknowingly . A fellow had a similar problem with the blue spatula, but I decided to give it try based on a popular cooking mag., I wonder what color they used or if the factory/company changed something for this spatula to have gotten such praise.

I am a culinary student and bought this to be different for the kit that everyone has and looks the same. Worked good for a week, then chipped and dropped pieces into a pan of chorizo. AND if you leave it anywhere near a stove, the metal handle gets hot!!! Stick to good old plastic or wood
