Lasted for 4 months! Jul 28, 2010 I purchased this coffeemaker, and the thermal cutoff fuses blew in just four months. Not a real easy do it yourself fix. No actual overheating occurred, just cheap fuses. Doing a little research, this seems to be a very common problem with this coffeemaker. Krups makes it very difficult to get warranty repair as well. Worked great while it did, now it's a boat anchor. $60 a month this cost me, based on paying $180 and it lasting all of four months. Avoid!
Great While it Lasted .. and it didn't last .... Jul 27, 2010 I bought this coffee maker about two year ago. I researched before I bought and this product had the best reviews. And the plus of this machine is that when it worked, it worked great! I honestly had no complaints. My parents have the Cuisinart and they steered me away from that product. Now that I have used that product and can compare it to this one I understand. The Krups is easy to use, the coffee is awesome and its just plain cool. The Cuisinart is complicated with lots of parts that you have to take out and clean and then try to remember how to put them back. But .. here's the kicker .. my parent's pot is five years old and still going strong. My pot went caput.
Now maybe I shouldn't complain, I mean I did get two good years of use out of the thing, but I had a cheap Hamilton Beach product before this one and that one lasted me for at least ten years! So my expectations are set a little higher than two years.
My pot simply won't brew anymore. It grinds the beans and then nothing. I looked up the closest repair shop? Two hours away. I tried to take it apart just to take a look, you need a special tool .. one that apparently only Braun repair guys have .. to even get inside.
I have read the more recent reviews of this product now and I am not the only person to have ths issue with this product. Apparently lots of us who loved it when we got it are completely unhappy now. So, bottom line, if you are buying the product you are taking a risk. It'll die on you eventually, no guarantees how long it'll be with you. On the upside, you'll love it while it is functioning.
Krupps leads the way Jul 21, 2010
I read alot of the reviews on various grind and brew makers before deciding on this product, I have previously owned the cuisinart which served me well, although replicating the sound of an aircraft taking off whilst grinding!!
I also saw a number of negative reports on the Krupps machine but decided to try another brand,This proved to be the best decision as the performance of the machine is fantastic,I have had none of the issues that have been previously mentioned in other reviews, the set up and operational booklet was easy to read and follow.
The coffee the machine makes is great and the "Aroma" setting for fewer cups fills the house and cup with that just brewed smell.
If I would change anything about the machine it would be to make the bean hopper slightly bigger,I brew very strong coffee and probably therfore need to fill it more often(every 2/3 days) with 2 brews a day.
In summary a good solid machine for a good price.
Great coffee, but it died after 18 months Jul 17, 2010 I loved this coffee maker because it makes great coffee and you don't have to deal with the separate grinder and measuring and all. However, I bought this machine in January 2009 and it stopped working this morning - 18 months after purchase. It appears the heating element for the water has gone out. Too bad because for the price of this machine one would expect better quality.
Loved this Unit ...but Heating Element Failed at 18 Months Jul 11, 2010 Searching for a combo unit that ground my beans, I was in heaven and reliably serve our household until this past week. Very annoyed to find the review threads that reveal a consistent issue with the heating element. Coffee makers should last ...like the Joe DiMaggio's old Mr. Coffee which I probably have somewhere in the basement. Would not recommend this product due to faulty design...would hope that Krups corrected this design issue.
