The grater attachment arrived with a visible chip out of its plastic. It is a problem when purchasing items online because it is assumed they will be in 'new' condition and not damaged or blemished on arrival. Amazon has no effective way to address this issue, except to return the product, save leaving feedback on the packaging and this review. So in this way it is unsatisfactory. The functioning of the device has been somewhat underwhelming when using fresh garlic that is partly smashed to release the flavors prior to grating. It gets stuck between the attachment and the grater and essentially does not work as it was thought able to. So, fresh garlic, possibly many cloves, are required to be able to grate with this assist. Otherwise its usefulness for grating cheese as well as nutmeg and ginger is evident.
Does NOT fit Home series of graters Aug 12, 2025
This looks like a really great tool, but do not believe the photo above that shows this attached to a Home Series grater (the one with the black handle). As the description states, it is (only) for the Professional series. I know I should have read more of the detail, but I got misled by the picture! I will return mine and get the right one now...

Good product but rather limited usage Aug 08, 2025
This product attaches on Microplane Professional Series Graters and protects your fingers, as you expect from the product description. That's what it does. But the ingredients must fit in the small chamber, and so its usage may be rather limited to things like nutmeg, ginger, etc. Larger ingredients, like cheese, must be cut into small pieces to fit in the chamber, which may partially offset the relative advantage of the product. But whenever this works, you gain more safety margin, and that's why I bought it.

 Must-have accessory for Microplanes Mar 12, 2025
I've used a lot of Microplane products: imitators don't hold up. Even the Microplanes with plastic bodies eventually fall apart. Finally I purchased the Professional Series Microplanes (fine and medium) with steel frames, however, and they hold up like nothing else. And they really handle foods great!
The only problem with Microplanes (and other shredders) is the danger to knuckles and fingertips. Especially if you grate nutmeg or grate the last nubbin of parmesan.
These sliders are an inexpensive, durable, ideal solution. They fit easily on the steel frames and slide back and forth while holding the food to the shredding surface without risking your flesh. Great solution!
These are true must-haves for the kitchen along with the Professional Series Microplane graters and shredders.

Makes grating anything small simple and safe. very easy to attach. use only when you choose. Best quality.
