5The best can opener!  Nov 25, 2025
Once you get past the sideways mounting, this is absolutely the best can opener, and a must-have in the kitchen! It takes the tops off of cans without leaving any sharp edges, and you can re-seal the can top for a 2nd use. Very smooth and a real pleasure to use!

5One of the most innovative gadgets in my kitchen!  Nov 24, 2025
I received this can opener as a housewarming gift with many other utensils and gadgets. I unpacked it and threw away the instructions without a second glance figuring that it was a can opener and it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to get it to work. Well this can opener doesn't work like traditional openers, in fact, it's so effortless you may get the can opener around and not even think that it opened the can...this is exactly what happened to me! I was so puzzled and I inspected the can opener carefully and noticed that it had a small pincer grip and decided to try removing the lid with that after getting the can opener to make a full revolution, when it does this it's not immediately apparent that the can has been opened. You have to then use the pincer grasp to pull off the lid of the can. You can even close the lid back up again and it will create a nearly airtight seal(not that I recommend this). The other great upside to this design is that the blade mechanism never comes in to contact with food...so you don't have to clean it after you open up a can of tuna...we previously owned a kitchenaid model where it needed to be washed all the time and forget putting it in the dishwasher the teeth that made the mechanism work would just corrode off. This model is such a vast improvement! My husband and I were even fighting over who got use it the other night when we had a dinner party.

1don't waste your money  Nov 22, 2025
not a good product, spend a couple of extra bucks and get the pampered chef opener as I will need to do. The real test for me came when I took it camping and tried opening a larger than normal can of chili and it could not do its job. I have to use my old pampered chef opener that I have had for several years until I can get a new one.To sum it up for me is the old saying "you get what you pay for" and trying to save a couple of dollars did not pay off.

3No sharp edges on the can, but...  Nov 20, 2025
Watch out for the edges on the packaging! Given that there is no such thing as good clamshell packaging, this thing came in what is some of the worst I ever encountered. Thick, stiff, fully contoured, lethally edged when cut open. Get a clue, Oxo--ditch the entry-proof plastic.

As for the can opener itself, it seems fine, but a full review will have to wait until I get the bandages off my fingers. I guess I can say it will probably work for the handicapped since I could open a can with it just now, but I don't think products for use by the handicapped are actually supposed to turn previously fully functional people into the handicapped. ;) I'd suggest buying some other well-reviewed edge-opening bead-cutting can opener if you have a choice. Unfortunately, none of the pictures of this one showed you'd need a chain saw to get to it when delivered.

5Best can opener on the market  Nov 19, 2025
I used to think that the can opener that Pampered Chef puts out was the best but after trying this one....this one wins hands down.
It is so much easier to use.
