 LOVE IT ! Feb 11, 2026
Pros: Easy to use. Fairly easy to clean. Fast. Stores nice in drawer. Best product for garlic I have ever owed.
Cons: Just don't put too many garlic Cloves in at one time or the handle sticks and it is a bugger to get apart. 5-6 max.

The metal grate gets fatigued and starts to bend after 3 months of use. When this happens the press no longer works as the grate bows and pops out the front.
Long learning curve--and then it breaks Nov 27, 2025
I am editing my earlier review to say that once I learned to use the darn thing, it broke. I used it about three or four times before it broke. Do NOT buy this press. I wasted my money and don't want anyone else to!
Here is what I wrote originally:
This press works great, but there is a huge learning curve. At first I was totally lost, as the instructions that came with it were not clear. Two of us spent 15 minutes in the kitchen trying to take it apart for cleaning, until extreme frustration set in. Then I discovered the video at [...]. That taught me how to use it, and now I love it!
I love this press because it fits more garlic than any other press I've used, and it is so strong you don't even have to take off the skin. The skin stays inside the press and the good part squeezes out. That's huge when you eat as much garlic as I do!
It also comes apart for cleaning, which is a huge time saver.

It's nice, but be careful about applying too much pressure, and some may find it hard to operate.
We bought our first Prepara Cliq garlic crusher, a green one, at local, upscale store, and liked it so much that, having a need for two crushers, we bought another Cliq -- the black model -- from Amazon.
The instructions say that it can handle multiple cloves, up to 6. I found that it was easy to load, though if you fill it to near capacity, it gets harder to close the unit and engage the ratcheting mechanism. I found it much easier with only one or a few cloves. My wife found it hard to operate, saying it required more of her strength. The sales clerk had a bit of difficulty when demonstrating the unit, figuring out how to open it. I thought that process was easy, just release the tab at the tip and pull the arms apart fully, then the unit springs open.
The real problem came a few weeks after using the first crusher. The plastic rim around the grate simply fell apart. In hindsight, that seems like a very likely occurrence. After all, I was forcing the last bits of garlic through a steel grate, with a metal ratcheting mechanism that locked in the pressure, against a thin plastic rim. The store was very gracious and refunded our money. I will be careful not to apply maximum pressure on the second Cliq.

The Prepara Cliq Garlic Crusher is very easy to use, doesn't require any hand strength and is easy to clean. With the slightest grip it ratchets down on the garlic (or whatever you're crushing).
