This colander was rated best by Cook's Illustrated & really lives up to their recommendation. Lightweight, lots of "holes" & big enough for a huge pot of homemade stock.

Cooks Illustrated was right when they chose this colander as their favorite - the small holes keep the food in while letting the liquid out. It's a great size, and a must have in the kitchen. I've gotten rid of my other colanders - I only need this one. Beware, though, it arrived in an unpadded light cardboard 'envelope' and was dented. I was able to knock out the dents, but for the shipping cost, they should use a box.

The review by Cook's Illustrated Magazine was right on. This colander is sturdy, doesn't tip over in the sink, drains well, cleans well and is attractive. My husband is the vegetable gardener and to get him to use this new colander, I pitched out my 30 year old green Tupperware colander. He likes this RSVP one, too. The 5-qt. size works well for everything.

Best Colander Ever Apr 21, 2025
I've tried many colanders with several leaving water trapped in the bottom instead of draining out. This one is great, large capacity, wide opening, light weight. Pricy, but well worth it.

I bought this because [...] gave it their highest rating for a colander! Works great and all the water drains out fast. Easier to clean than my colander made from metal screening material.
