The best there is!! Mar 22, 2025 I have been using Sitram cookware for years and have been spoiled. I didn't realize HOW spoiled until I decided to replace my set with something new and modern. Sitram was no longer manufacturing the set I owned and I wasn't thrilled with their current collection so I started researching. I bought a set of the highly rated Circulon but there was just no comparison and I sent them off to one of my kids. I had been watching this set for months and when it came up on Amazon Warehouse as an open box item at a fantastic price I finally pulled the trigger. I was thrilled to discover that this came with the NEWER lids that Scanpan is phasing in, they are flatter with a metal rim instead of the high domed ones shown in the photo. They are still glass so you can see the food cooking but they are not as bulky and are much easier to store. The only bad thing was that there were only 3 lids instead of 5, the smaller two sauce pans didn't come with any...the risk of open box buying I suppose. Fortunately my Sitram lids look and fit exactly the same so this wasn't a problem for me, especially considering the deal I got. I love the feel and weight of these pans, not to heavy but still very solid. The bottoms are thick and flat and distribute the heat evenly, they clean up so easily because there are no bolts or screws inside to catch food. The two smaller saucepans have double pouring spouts which has come in handy. I am used to using plastic utensils and hand washing so even though these don't require it I will continue to care for them the way I have always cared for my cookware and expect them to last for many many years!

It did not last very long Feb 16, 2025 We got a large sauce pan, 1 small and 1 medium size fry pans.
I was very excited the first time we got our Scanpans. I saw and read about the new technology surrounding this product that supposedly to be non-stick for many years. Now we only have the big sauce pan left. We have to throw away the 2 fry pans.
Well, to give it some credit, they lasted a couple of years before it started to peel off (actually not peeling off like a teflon. It starts to have some tiny holes on the surface coating which grows in size as you use it. Then finally when we see the metal base, we got worried that pieces of those non-stick surface gets to our food that we decided it's time to get rid of it). The non-stick properties starts to wear off before it lasted a year.
Pros:
-heavy and thick to distribute heat evenly
-Handles and glass covers are oven resistant so you can actually use it to cook in the oven
-Well made, great construction. Durable.
-(If you order a cover) We love the glass cover. It is see through to see your food without lifting it. Heavy that it does not easily rocks on top of the pan. We actually use it with our other pans.
Cons:
-Not as non-stick as teflon. And non-stick properties continue to deteriorates as you use it. Approximately a year.
-For the price, it should last much longer.
-Even if it is heavy and thick. It is not good for induction cooking.

Cast iron what? Jun 22, 2025 I don't want to sound too much like an ad...but:
A true non-fibrous (i.e. fibrous would be Teflon, which flakes in time) non-stick solution that can brown/deglaze (a rarity in non-stick hardware) and has a life-time warranty. Plus you have an assortment of inserts like stackable steamers, double boiler, pasta strainer, and egg poacher to give you extreme flexibility in the kitchen.
I had bought these pans and fell in love, but then wanted to give cast iron a chance. Non only were the CI skillet results not as good, it was a pain to clean (and oil for next use) and heavy. Scanpan Classics have no rivets like most other pans, so food doesn't get stuck around the bolt and cleanup is that much easier.
I'm going to ramble a bit: The only drawback I see to these pans (as well as a majority of non-stick pans) are not future-compatible with induction ranges (finally catching on in America) since Aluminum is not magnetic. You'd be looking at Stainless Steel(try their Fusion 5 line) or Cast Iron in that case. So although they should outlast the life-time warranty, it's possible you won't be passing them on to your kids unless they come out with an "all-metal" induction technology.
I just think it's kind of funny that it would come full circle to my unborn descendants using my low-tech Cast Iron.

If there is a better set made, I haven't found it. Feb 10, 2026 I already had a 12" frying pan, and the quality, weight and the flatness of the piece was enough I decided to get a set. If you've ever cooked on a warped pan, (even slightly warped) you know what I mean. heat distribution is excellent. It makes a huge difference in the quality of the food you cook. My only regret is that I didn't buy this much sooner.
