This is the spatula I've been looking for for years. It is close to, but even better than, an old favorite that finally gave out. This spatula is different from ALL others I've looked at and bought for a long period of time. What it has: a sharp, firm edge that will go under eggs, hash browns, ANYTHING, thus retaining any crust you are trying to make. Most spatulas now are made of rubber or silicone or? and are too thick to easily go under anything, plus, they can flex. This WMF tool is quite different, it seems to be made of a quality, durable, hard plastic. This allows a lot of strength in this very thin but strong & firm implement and, being thin, it can go easily under whatever you are cooking/frying/baking. This is the feature missing in all other spatulas I've tried. Just one set I tried were the OXO spatulas, a small and large, that were thin, but not strong at all and warped easily. The edges, after not too much use, began to fray. Thin, but almost useless and did not last.
What I can also do with the sharp edge is to safely cut things in the pan. If I'm making eggs and they all cook together, they are easily 'cut' into individual pieces with the sharp edge of the spatula. The pan is unharmed, the eggs are cut and the edge of this spatula remains sharp. I even 'cut' canadian bacon in the pan, no problems at all. None of the other spatulas were capable of this.
The downside is the span is not as wide as I might like, nevertheless, it's strong enough to do everything I've asked it to do. One needs to adjust to the handle which is tiered but that is easily gotten used to.
I've had one of these spatulas for a long time and recently purchased 2 more, giving one to my mother-in-law who was thrilled. You will be too. This really is a fine, useful tool that will hold up and perform as it should. It is really the best ever.
