Make sure to measure on a flat surface Nov 30, 2025 I always have a tendency to want to measure things out while holding the measuring cup in my hand. The only problem is that with this measuring cup, having it completely level is crucial to getting an accurate reading. I've found that it's very difficult to keep it level while holding it in the air.
We own two of these measuring cups, and both developed cracks on the bottom of the cup within the first six months. The cracks are big enough that liquids slowly seep through, so we've relegated them to measuring dry ingredients.
Handle breaks off way too easily! Nov 05, 2025 The design of the cup and graduations is nice. However, the handle is too easily broken. Any excess leverage on the bottom of the handle will crack it off where the cup and handle meet.
Does not pour! Sep 18, 2025 Looks nice and is accurate. However, if you try and pour liquids slowly (e.g., into a smaller container), half of the liquid will spill onto the counter (or floor)!
so many measurements! Sep 09, 2025 This is the best measuring cup I've ever used. At first I was reluctant to use the scrubby side of the sponge for fear that the numbers would wear off, but a year later they are still there! It includes ounces as well which is really nice for the 1-off recipes that use ounces. I use it for everything from waters to oils and have never had a problem with spills or cleaning the cup. Also very comfortable to hold!
Willing to accept a trade off over Pyrex Jul 27, 2025 I like the non-slip grip, and the inner measuring feature is pretty nifty. I've read some complaints that the plastic breaks more easily than Pyrex, but I'm very happy to make that trade off. I have a 9 month old at home, and I'm never buying Pyrex again due to my recent experience breaking a Pyrex piece. Read on if you're interested...
The only reason I bought it is because I dropped my Pyrex measuring cup (totally my fault), and it exploded into a million pieces. "Not a big deal" I thought, "I'll just sweep it up". BUT after I swept up all of the pieces I could see, I noticed that some of the dust on my hand felt and looked a little strange. When I got my hand into the proper light, I could see that some of the that dust was actually extremely tiny pieces of broken glass... literally not much bigger than specks of dust. Thank goodness I noticed before I wiped my face or my eyes! I really had no idea that breaking a piece of Pyrex would have pieces that were so incredibly tiny.
We spent hours wiping down our counters and floor with wet paper towels to pick up all of the tiny glass shards. I had to use a flashlight to find all of pieces since some were so tiny. Now I feel very paranoid about having missed some spots, since babies have the magical ability to find any and every dangerous thing in the house no matter how small.
Anyhow, I really don't mean this review to be a gripe about Pyrex. It's a great product, and clearly the vast majority of people have no problem with it. I've never had a problem with it before either. BUT, there is that small element of added risk. I wouldn't have had a problem with some broken pieces and a few shards, but the sandy, dusty sized pieces are so incredibly small, that it's impossible to clean up everything. And considering that I'd literally step in front of a bus for my kid; it's not such a big deal for me to switch to a (possibly) less durable plastic product.
